Wife Got Mortgage: Now HSBC Reported Late Payment on My Credit Report. Can I Sue?
Hello, I would like to know if it possible to file a lawsuit against HSBC Bank. The reason i want to file one is because, my wife bought a house last year and she is owner and she is the only one on the mortgage.
She recently lost her job. Because of that she did not make house payments for the last couple of months, I was not on the mortgage, it was never a joint account but I recently found out that HSBC reported the late payments on my Credit File with all the three credit service companies!
I have notifed Transunion, Equifax and Experian and filed a dispute. I hope that the late payment info will be removed from my credit report since I was never a co borrower or a joint account holder, but because of this action by HSBC bank i am losing time and money and I am unable to now get a loan for my business. I would like to know what can I do and if I can sue this bank for its false actions.

I would hire an attorney to communicate with the mortgage holder that you are not responsible for the mortgage obligation. If the lender refuses to take action and you are being damaged, such as not getting the business loan you need then you should file suit against the mortgage holder.
