Filing for bankruptcy in Illinois?

Starting from one my bank account was frozen. A credit card on which I have $ 6,000, from years ago. Currently I have only less than $ 1,000 in my bank account. The credit card was under my maiden name and my bank account is a collective account.

But I can file for bankruptcy after this?

Anyone know a good lawyer in Chicago?

I have other debt not secured credit card that I owe. Currently I am not working, my husband is the only one now that it works.

, Dont file bankruptcy!, your NOT bankrupt.

There may be a problem here. The creditor should not be freezing the account of your spouse, if he was not a responsible party to the credit card. At most they can seize 50 percent of the account, but only after a court judgment and Writ ordered by the court.

Ex may have a case. You don’t.

I agree that bankruptcy may not be the solution for you. On the other hand, your joint checking account can be “offset” by the bank to satisfy the obligation of the your husband to the bank. So if I were you and your husband is in debt, I’d keep my money in another bank. Bankruptcy is not the solution to every problem.
