On an ER visit, the MD ordered a CT scan for daughter and the cost was $3000.
They did not provide us with informed consent or explain why they wouldn’t do other diagnostics or give us a choice.
How can we fight this charge for unnecssary procedure?

You may choose to not pay and wait until they sue you and defend yourself in court, or you may sue them first to establish the fee was unauthorized or excessive. The easiest thing to do is to have an attorney send a letter to the medical service provider on his or her letterhead stating that the fees were unauthorized. I have negotiated settlements in such situations without the need for litigation. I hope this helps.
