You should call the Illinois Bar Association or visit their website for help in finding a referral service for attorneys in the Chicago area. Then do some research to see if the attorneys have been disciplined by the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) in Illinois.
If you’re really desperate, try calling the State’s Attorney’s office that is handling the criminal case or the Circuit Clerk’s office that handles criminal cases and see if they’ll tell you who the good criminal attorneys are. (It’s a long-shot, but they might tell you if you’re nice an they’re in a good mood.)
