Is it legal to post flyers in public places in Chicago?

I ‘m the starting a business and I want to get the word out about my services by attaching flyers to windshields of car, on trees, telephone poles, etc.

I want to know if it was in violation of any of Chicago laws for doing that. Do I need a certain type of permit for this?

If you’re posting them on the street (on cars, the side of a building), not really. I mean, it’s not really legal, but no one will hassel you unless you’re making a mess with them or someone gets annoyed and calls the cops on you. People stick stuff under windshield wipers all the time: pizza places, mexican restaurants, car washes, dry cleaners, etc. People either keep them or throw them away. But you can’t just go INTO a building to post them. That’s private property and the rules are different.

Try places like supermarkets, coffee shops, the occasional bank lobby. High traffic areas like that are good. Sometimes even better than putting them on cars. But you have to gear your distribution to where you think it will do the most good. If you, say, offering investment services, you wouldn’t just stick something on a car. You’d probaby post it in a bank lobby or somewhere where people are thinking “financial”. Gear your distribution of flyers to the best market area.

Nope not really. Try the car thing, posting them in grocery stores. Areas where you know the type of business you’re starting is needed (good marketing strategy). Competition won’t let you advertise in their place. Door steps are good and on sundays while people are in church. Put it on their cars. Public buildings sometimes require you get approved (depends on what you’re advertising)

Not for this kind of advertisement. You don’t need any legal formalities to do before starting this campaign.
