Service Master: No Estimate, then Overcharged – Is This Fraud?

I have called the Service master for helping me out in case of Water overflow in basement.

When they came in I asked for estimate they created lot of excuses to provide and estimate so I asked them rough estimate.

They told me around $2000 but now next day they send me bill of $3800!

My question: Is there a way I can file a fraud case?

They also showed me Sample pricing list which was showing 0.35 cents per SQ FT now they charged .85 cents per SQ. ft

Note : They DID NOT provide written estimates and that is the issue.

Is there a way I can file a fraud case against him?

Advice Needed on Legal Suit Against Me

I worked for a company in CA which was sent into backruptcy several years ago. Recently, the debtor from Chicago has filed suit against me because I mistakenly signed on a certain contract.

I used a lawyer and he has responded to complaints against me. The other lawyer has made an offer – $ 500 or we are going to track the jury. That was in June 2007. Since then, I have not heard anything.

My question is ….. if the debtor does not reply, does the case go away automatically?

Chicago Attorney for Civil Case Needed (reversed and remanded)

The case is Lillian Mosely vs. the Chicago public school.

My child was placed in special education without going through the proper procedures and my name was forged on federal documents to obtain funding for the school . I was chairperson for the IASA at my school which is now known as NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND…

Well the case is in It’s discovery phase and I need a good attorney. Any guidance on this is appreciated.

Chicago Landlord/Tenant Question

I need some help pertaining to a tenant landlord issue in Chicago.

Here is the story. We looked at an apartment that is for rent, the landlord told us it would be available Oct 5th.

We did not sign a lease and did not definitely agree to take the unit. The landlord however told us that we had to pay a $100 application fee and give him a month’s rent to hold the apartment. We eventually decided we didn’t want the unit ( there were two murders in the immediate area last week).

The landlord told us that there was a $300 cancellation fee plus in addition to the $100 application fee. We would also be charged a pro-rated amount for each day after Oct 1st that the unit did not rent. ( Which is curiously given that the unit won’t be ready until Oct 5th). We did not sign a lease and he has almost 30 days to find a replacement.

Can he charge us $300 ++ ? We need to know soon before we look at another place.

Child Support Question

I am currently in the middle of a child support case, i have to go back on march 1st for a permanent child support order. I filed on the father of my children.

To make a long story short, I put in a request for a states attorney through child and was told to check back to make sure i will have one present. I checked today and was told no one has responded to my request.

My questions is: Is there some type of way i could find an attorney on my own without all the fees???

I was also told on my first child support court date that i could not handle my kid’s tuition in that court room. I was told this when i tried to present receipts, I thought that was kind of odd. any help or advice would be appreciated!!! I live in chicago in the southwest suburbs. my court date is downtown.

I would also like to add that the father of my children called me a b**** in court and nothing was done about this when i told the judge, after i told the judge there was an exchange of words and we were told we would get arrested.

All i did was state what he said to me which i am sure the judge heard him say this anway. What can i do about the lack of concern for his actions??

Chicago Attorney’s Firm Won’t Pay Me

I did language interpreting during a deposition here in California for an attorney that flew here from a sizeable firm in Chicago. For five months, they have been ignoring my invoices, email and phone calls.

What can I do to get paid?
